Sally Heaney [director]
Sally Heaney is a 1976 High Honors graduate of Auburn High School. She has owned and operated her own dance center since 1977 offering a complete program of dance education. She is a member of Dance Educators of America, a national organization of certified Performing Arts instructors. Sally continues to study dance professionally in Boston and New York. Some of the outstanding teachers she has studied with are Eleanor Thompson, Jeannette Neil, Sam Fiorello, and E. Virginia Williams, to name a few. Among her accomplishments are scholarships from Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and New England Dance Theater, Boston. Sally was one of 50 students selected nationally to study with the Pennsylvania Ballet Company’s Summer Dance Program. She also performed in the Virgin Islands with a professional entertainment agency based out of Boston.
Megan was a student at the Cathy Taylor School of Dance for 16 years, starting at the age of 2. After her training at Cathy Taylor’s she received her B. A. in Dance and Sociology from Skidmore College and her Masters in Social Work from Smith School for Social Work. Throughout her professional dance career, Megan has danced with Boston and New York based dance companies including Kelly Donovan and Dancers, Andrea Blesso and Verhoff/LoTurco Danceworks. She was a scholarship student at Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago where she studied with well known choreographers including Nan Giordano and Jon Lehrer. Megan has studied and taught dance throughout the United States and Europe including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Boston and Paris.
Carrie received her dance training locally where she studied tap, jazz, ballet, pointe and lyric dance, beginning at the age of 2. She has been a teacher at the Sally McDermott Dance Centers since 1998. Carrie teaches all forms of dance at various levels at the Auburn Studio. Carrie also works as an Independent Representitive for Younique Products. She resides with in Auburn with her three children, Desiree age 12, Trevor age 9 and Adrian age 7.
Kathryn “Kat” Damian, originally from Southbridge, MA began her dance training at Sally McDermott Dance Centers at the age of 4. She participated in many dance competitions as well as workshops during her adolescent years. She continued her dance training at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Jazz Dance Performance. While at the University, she was honored to study under professionals such as Ronen Koresh, Scott Jovovich, Zane Booker, Robert Burden, and many more. She was also one of the original members of Xhale Dance Company, where she had the honor of performing in the Fringe Festival in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating she started dancing and choreographing with Project Moshen, another dance company based out of Philadelphia. Along with dancing for Project Moshen, she has choreographed routines that have been performed at Philadelphia Phillies games. She has since relocated back to Massachusetts where she has enjoyed teaching and choreographing at SMDC for the past 4 years.
Michelle received her dance training at Diane Kelley Dance Studio, where she studied jazz, tap, ballet, pointe and modern. In addition, Michelle also performed with the Mary McInerney School of Irish Step Dancing, the Burncoat High School Dance Department and the New England Surge professional dance team. She has competed both regionally and nationally as a solo and group performer. Michelle graduated from Burncoat High School and the College of the Holy Cross with a degree in English and Education. Michelle also earned her Masters from Worcester State University in Secondary Education. She is certified to teach dance in the Massachusetts public schools and is currently teaching middle school English in Worcester.
Caitlin is a 1998 cum laude Wheaton College graduate. Caitlin was on the Dean’s list for all 4 years, was an athletic scholar and was co-captain of the Wheaton Dance College Dance Company. Caitlin is certified to teach dance in the public schools and has her Master’s degree in elementary education from Anna Maria College. Caitlin’s choreography has won numerous national and regional recognition. She teaches all ages and levels at the Auburn Center. Caitlin is a fourth grade teacher in the Northboro public schools and resides in Auburn with her husband Jay and their three daughters Nora 10 yrs, Clare 7 yrs and Maeve 3 years.
Karen received her dance training locally and has been teaching ballet, pointe, jazz, and lyric for over 20 years. Karen is a 1991 Dean’s list graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education, where she also studied modern, jazz, and ballet with dance professionals from
UMass, Mt. Holyoke College, and Smith College. She continued her dance training through the “Career Start Program” at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL where she was able to further her dance experience, studying with renowned Disney choreographers. Karen’s choreography has won numerous regional and national high score awards. She was the choreographer for the 2008 adult division’s female soloist at the World Showdance Championship in Reisa, Germany. She is also the proud Mom of her 2 daughters, Cassidy, 2012 National Young Miss Dance Ovations, and Kalli, 2011 National Jr Miss Dance Ovations. Karen has taught ballet at the Auburn dance center this year. She lives in Auburn with her husband Paul and two daughters.
Heather McDermott Gough
Heather, daughter of director Sally Heaney, trained at the Sally McDermott Dance Centers for 15 years. She continued her professional dance studies at Dean College and Point Park University. Heather is a 2004 honors graduate of Dean College where she received her Associates Degree. A 2006 graduate of Point Park University, she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance concentrating in Jazz Dance. Heather teaches all levels and ages at both the Auburn and Charlton Dance Centers. Heather resides in West Brookfield with her husband Ryan, their 2 year old son RJ and their latest addition Brendan who is 3 months old.

Kate trained at Sally McDermott Dance Centers, where she danced with the Company and competed regionally and nationally as a solo and group performer. Kate graduated from Suffolk University with her bachelors in Biology. She was a member of the Suffolk University Dance Team where she choreographed and performed in routines. While attending Suffolk, Kate was the dance instructor at the Nazzaro Center in Boston where she taught boys and girls from the ages of 3-16. She danced for the Boston Blazers and Boston Cannons lacrosse teams for four years. Kate now teaches at the Auburn Dance Center.
Nadine Zona received her early training locally and began teaching right out of high school. She was recognized frequently for emotional execution and technical performance. Nadine was third runner up to Junior Miss Dance of New England, danced in many national high score award routines and performed in three nationally televised dance competition specials. She was also chosen as one of 15 finalists in the Walt Disney World National Audition tour. She is the choreographer for the past National Junior and Young Miss Dance Ovations and has won many awards for outstanding choreography. In 1995 Nadine was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree from Worcester State College and an Associates Degree in Nursing from Quinsigamond Community College. Nadine is currently working as an RN at St. Vincents Hospital. Lastly, she is so grateful to be teaching her third year at SMDC, where she has been welcomed as part of this wonderful dance family!

Jessica is a 2011 Auburn High School and Sally McDermott Dance Centers graduate. Jessica danced competitively as a solo and group performer of the Dance Company for 10 years. She completed her freshman year of college at Westfield State University where she was studying Math. At Westfield Jessica was a member of the dance team who competed regionally and nationally taking 5th place at the Universal Dance Association National Competition in Orlando, FL. Jessica currently attends Worcester State University where she is studying High School Math Education. Jessica choregoraphs for the dance company and substitute teaches at the Auburn Dance Center. She is very excited to be back at the studio and to be joining the Sally McDermott faculty.

Keith Silva [choreography]
Keith has been teaching for 11 years. He currently trains in NY, LA and also Monsters of Hip Hop Dance Conventions. Keith has choreographed for Jordan Knight’s (lead singer for New Kids On The Block) solo tour “Live and Unfinished”. Keith is the Director/Choreographer for the dance company “Movement Specialists”. This company was established in 2006 and won 1st place this year at the New England Prelude Hip-Hop Dance competition which is run by “Phunk Phenomenon”. Keith’s former student, Nick DeMoura, is currently Justin Bieber’s choreographer. Nick also creatively directed Ariana Grande’s latest tour (The Honey Moon Tour).
